Client Testimonials

Bob and I love Thomas and Daisy.

While the love can't really be equated with love for children, it does share many of the same emotions. Many of the protective feelings and the worry you feel when your child/dog is going to have an operation or even a needle.

Your practice really gets it!!!br>
Thomas and Daisy are standard poodles living the good life with us. Daisy is 12 years and Tommy is 10 years so they are both in the seniors group. Thomas is a perpetual puppy with a sooky lay back temperament, while Daisy is a smart adult and stands no nonsense in her old age!

They have been going to East Port Veterinary Hospital for seven years now and we have thus experienced various operation, innumerable vaccinations and dental work.

Every health issue if treated with the utmost care.

The whole attitude is one of doing the very best for the patient, such as ensuring that the animal is properly hydrated before and during the operation utilizing a drip. Blood tests before an operation are performed so there are no nasty surprises, careful pain relief and many, many more things that would be standard practice in human medicine.

Gary goes to a lot of trouble to explain the ailment, options and reasons for treatment. Preventative medicine is also stressed with annual blood tests for the elderly, which in our case has been most valuable in picking up kidney problems which we would otherwise never have known about.

The state of the art equipment further ensures proper diagnosis and treatment, as well as top class dentistry. Without modern technology the quality of treatment can not draw near to human standards.

One aspect that exceeds what we humans can expect is in the treatment of arthritis with Cartrophen. The change in Daisy was nothing short of miraculous. Here is hoping that it will be available for humans soon!!

These are the sort of things that human patients expect but are very often not done for dogs. Old fashioned survival veterinary medicine while it works very well most of the time, is just not good enough when you really care about your pets as we do.

We feel terribly lucky to have this standard of care available to us in Port Macquarie, so many thanks to the wonderful team at East Port Veterinary Hospital!!!

Regards,
Bob and Robyn Marshall

I have been a regular customer of East Port Veterinary Hospital for many years now.

As a breeder of Australian Bulldogs, I have required the assistance of the whole team for many different reasons. The team has helped with my breeding program from health testing, to artificial inseminations and caesarean sections. They have always provided me with fantastic advice and support throughout every stage of the breeding process.

I can only applaud the service and humanity that all staff display at East Port. They have been compassionate, professional and extremely helpful to me and my fur family over the years.

The level of expertise among the staff, from the front reception and warm welcome, right through to the helpers out the back, to offer a cup of coffee during those times we would rather forget. All the staff are part of an extended "family" that are there to offer the highest service anyone could ever hope for their fur baby.

I personally can't thank them enough for their help over the years and look forward to asking for their help in the years to come.

My husband and I both agree that it is not “often” one comes across a large organisation with such first class service, much less a local veterinary hospital. We have two dogs, which are our pride and joy. Oscar our “eldest” is almost twelve years old.

Oscar started having ongoing health issues about 5 years ago; we kept taking him back to another Port Macquarie vet who insisted on sending him to Sydney to have minor surgical procedures. Our out of pocket expenses, coupled with time off work totalled “hundreds of dollars” and moreover, Oscar’s condition continued to decline.

It was recommended that we try East Port Veterinary Hospital and we have never looked back! The previous condition is now under control and maintenance is a drop in visit costing us between thirty five and fifty dollars. Needless to say, this a major relief.

Annie Thomson on the reception desk is exceptional. She has the right blend of friendliness with warm professional communication skills, and moreover, she is a “huge” animal lover.

Oscar has been our lifelong companion and best friend so we feel blessed to be able to offer him the “very best” of treatments as he ages.

Dr Vanessa Aird seems to fully understand this, and has repeatedly gone over and beyond the call of duty. Thank you!

Reading this you obviously want the best care for your pet. We can’t speak highly enough of the professionalism and love that Gary and the staff give to our cat “Boofy” who is, we must say, “an old man with attitude”.

The last few years Boofy has had a lot of trauma with abscesses which require surgery and now with osteoarthritis which requires daily medication and six monthly blood screens. Imagine trying to examine and treat a cat which weighs between 8.7-9.2kgs and has a very aggressive streak!!!

From the time you walk in the door to reception you can see and feel how much the whole staff enjoy and truly care about their patients and owners. No matter what breed or attitude of the pet, they are all special to them.

13 year old Boofy is healthy and happy and able to walk without aches and pains, thanks to the care of Gary and the girls!

Stewart & Cheryl Cameron

Name – Boofy Cameron Age - 13 years Breed – Maine Coon

Medical history –
1. Annual vaccinations
2. Regular hair cuts
3. Osteoarthritis with daily medications and 6 monthly blood tests
4. Multiple abscess surgeries
5. Liver infection – now recovered

As you can see I have had a fair bit to do with Gary and the staff. I’m an “old man with plenty of attitude”! Believe me – Nightmare on Elm Street has nothing on me! Especially with my size. Even with my attitude Gary and staff have a great affection for me. I don’t like being at the surgery but I know I’, a lot healthier and happier when I leave.

Thank you for all you do.

Love Boofy

We have visited East Port Veterinary Hospital for 13 years – firstly with our 2 RSPCA cats and later with our dog Scruff – 3 animals.

We can’t speak too highly of the wonderful caring service we receive each time we go there. Everyone at this hospital cares for animals and this comes across all the time with their attention to detail in every way.

We wish them all the success they deserve.

Mike and Sheila Frost

We have found the staff at East Port Veterinary Hospital to be very helpful and understanding of all problems we have had with our pets. We have only used East Port Vets for over 19 years and wouldn’t go anywhere else. We have taken our dogs and cats to East Port knowing that any problems are thoroughly and professionally handled.

Anne & John Fulton

We purchased Oscar at 7 weeks of age in 2002 and he has been a patient of East Port Veterinary Hospital for the past 8 years.

At all times we have received excellent care and professional help from all of the veterinary staff.

We wish them further success in the future.

Madge Clark

We have been clients of East Port Veterinary Hospital for 14 years.

The service and care is second to none. From the front reception staff, to the veterinary staff, you receive the same professional service through out the hospital. I would not take my Bundy to any other practice (or myself).

Every bit of treatment, medication and test performed is explained and the reasons it is being done are clear. I could not wish for a safer, cleaner and caring place to leave my boy, and would recommend East Port Veterinary Hospital to all.

Yvonne Prentice

We have been coming to East Port Veterinary Hospital for the past 6 years since having our puppy Zoey. All the staff have always been very professional and helpful. We would recommend East Port to anyone wanting to ensure their pets are well cared for.

We have always had excellent and professional care taken with our darling Cheeky. Gary always has time to listen to our worries and always advises us on the best care for our pet. The staff are beyond exemplary and are always kind and polite which we appreciate so much.

Thanking you all.

Doreen, Reg & Cheeky Tripp

I have been coming to Gary and the team for quite a few years now and as I have five dogs there has been a wide range of treatments needed. Never once have I been disappointed by the outcome of any treatment. They have been spot on.

I am a person who likes to know about the treatments and what to expect so I ask a lot of questions and that has never been a problem for anyone here either. Even the girls on the front desk always greet you with a smile.

All in all a great team!

Words cannot express my gratitude for the caring nature of East Port Veterinary Hospital.

ALL services I have received for the wellbeing of my loved pets have been provided with efficiency and kindness. The consultation processes have been very thorough, reassuring, understanding and empathetic.

Recently I had to make a “huge” decision. In response to my decision, two wonderful staff members came to my much loved companion “Champers” home and helped her to transcend from daily disease and discomfort, to a state of bliss with ease, grace and dignity.

Unexpectedly I then received acknowledgement and support with respect and compassion to assist me with my feelings of much felt grief – very, very much appreciated!! YOUR WORK DOES NOT GO UNNOTICED.

Thank you to all of you from the bottom of my heart. Your exceptional work and dedication is appreciated!!

Glenda, Popeye & of course – Champers (LICK)

Hi, my name is Charlie and I am a Labrador aged ten years. Since I was a puppy, Gary has been my vet, and also my owner’s previous Labrador who lived to age 16 years. With East Port’s great care and compassion, I just love going to see Gary. I can’t wait to get out of the car.

You see, I have had to have a couple of operations and Gary and the girls are so kind and caring. They do so many special things for me and it feels like they really care about me!

I wish all dogs were as lucky to have East Port Veterinary Hospital and Gary and team as their vets!!

Best wishes, Charlie Woods

Joyce and I are only too happy to give this testimonial to East Port Veterinary Hospital. Indeed as the name implies it is a hospital of excellence. The staff and veterinary expertise are first rate with caring for our loved pets when in need of health essentially leading to happy pooches! Pet parents are also left well informed, calm, and ready and willing to carry out the instructions for our pet’s good health.

It is good to know that during hard times in Ernest and Pippa’s lives, the vet’s and staff are in there trying so hard to manage our pet’s quality of life.

So thank you on behalf of the ones that cannot speak for themselves – our pets.

Total appreciation to you all.

As new arrivals from New Zealand we were unaware of the veterinary services in Port Macquarie and having an 18 year old very spoilt cat (person), we were in need of a very good vet. On a walk we discovered East Port Veterinary Hospital.

After a phone call to the front desk, we were able to see the vet we chose, Bec Tucker, because our vet in New Zealand was called Tucker and we had been with him for over 25 years.

Bec’s kindness, caring and gentleness itself to a very nasty cat, her concern about Annie put our minds at rest. Her treatment has been exceptional to which Annie has responded to and she’s now coming up to 19 years.

I would like to thanks East Port Veterinary Hospital for your wise decision in employing Bec Tucker and Annie your receptionist, whose kindness goes beyond expectation.

Thanks you East Port Veterinary Hospital for your wise decision to employ people with wonderful people skills and knowledge.

Jackie & Stephanie Willis

We have been clients of East Port Veterinary Hospital for the past 3.5 years.

In that time we have received nothing but exceptional service, especially throughout the treatment of our late Labrador Sasha. Gary and his staff dealt with our difficult and unusual case in a professional manner while also providing compassion and care. We could not have asked for better service from all the East Port team.

We look forward to continuing our relationship with East Port Vets for many years to come.

Keep up the great work!!

I adore my dog. Nothing is too good for him – especially when it comes to his health and well being.

At East Port Veterinary Hospital both the service and the facilities are of an exceptionally high standard. And behind the service and facilities there is a team of dedicated men and women who are caring and compassionate and always willing to go the extra mile for anyone in need.

But that’s not all. I have complete confidence in Gary and his team because I know from personal experience that their care and compassion is backed up by years of technical experience and skill and an eagerness to always offer the best by keeping abreast of the latest veterinary sciences.

When I first came to East Port I had just moved to Port Macquarie from Sydney and I was at my wits end: my best friend was literally tearing himself to pieces and every six and eight weeks a foul smelling black liquid oozed from his ears. On top of that, he had been born with two very loose kneecaps which needed major orthopaedic surgery to correct. We were in desperate need.

After several frustrating and fruitless experiences in Sydney I wasn’t really expecting much here. But after listening patiently to my catalogue of woes, Gary surprised me by taking complete charge of the situation. I already knew the problem was allergy related but to date the only solutions I had been given had all been medicinal. However, when I left Gary’s clinic that first day, I not only had medications to help ease my dog’s immediate discomfort, I also had a step by step plan of action to follow to try and help identify and eliminate the actual underlying cause.

And it worked. Four month’s later, I couldn’t believe the difference. Not only had the frantic, self-mutilating stopped but the smelly, black ooze disappeared from his ears and has never come back again. A simple change of diet was all it took.

As for the leg surgery, I doubt if a specialist could have done any better. Five years down the track and my best friends legs are stronger and healthier now than they had been when he was a puppy.

Finally, I believe I have found an establishment that actually lives up to (and even exceeds) it’s claims. And my dog seems to agree. He has never shown any fear when we’ve been here and he is always overjoyed to see everyone. As far as I’m concerned, that’s the best endorsement a place can have.

Pity they don’t take humans.

East Port Veterinary Hospital has been our Vet of choice for the last 8 years. The reasons for this are many.

The primary reason they are “number 1” for us is they put our animals first. Their care of our pets is always the most professional, ethical and best informed care we have been able to source. Our pets mean the world to us. We believe pet ownership brings an ethical responsibility with it and the team at East Port Veterinary Hospital definitely share that philosophy.

Beyond their professionalism towards our pets there are so many other reasons we keep going back to East Port Veterinary Hospital. The way they patiently communicate with us, the most up to date practice on the Mid North Coast, the advice available just a telephone call away, the convenience of being able to leave a pet in the morning and pick it up in the evening, the 24 hour emergency service are just some.

We have been responsible for quite a few animals over the last 8 years and East Port Veterinary Hospital has always been there to help us fulfil that responsibility, professionally, conveniently and economically. We have no problem recommending them to other pet owners; in fact we do it all the time.

Andrew and Phoebe - Gum Scrub

Our four legged family have been patients of East Port Vet Hospital their entire lives.
We have had a wide variety of health problems ranging from eye ulcers to major orthopaedic surgery, to a more common procedure, desexing.

The staff have always shown great professionalism and when needed, sincere sympathy with a kind shoulder to cry on.

Our gorgeous “girls” and beautiful blind cat mean the world to us. With the knowledge and guidance from East Port Vet, we have certainly provided them with a healthy wonderful life. -

Kath - Port Macquarie

We recently lost our beautiful little man – Zac. Zac was a Rottweiler aged 12.
Over the years, Gary Turnbull and the staff at East Port Veterinary Hospital treated Zac and nursed him during his many visits and many stays in hospital due to his “health issues”.
We cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful team of people who were professional at all times and so kind and caring towards Zac.

Gary, Zac’s vet, is so diligent and works tirelessly to achieve the most professional practice.
I could not tell you the number of times that Gary worked over and above the call of duty for Zac. We miss Zac terribly but will never forget our friends at East Port Veterinary Hospital and for all they did for our beautiful boy.

Thank you. - Bronwen & Mark - Port Macquarie

Today when we look at our two beautiful Corgies Tilly and Heidi we know we have to thank Doctor Gary and his wonderful staff that they are still with us.

We have had several anxious times with Tilly and Heidi but each time Doctor Gary has pulled them through and returned them to their best health that they both enjoy today.
We thank you Gary and your caring staff.

Kindest regards, - Col & Mary - Port Macquarie
